An Update

Hello Creatures!

This is one of those updates that doesn't have much information for you. But we wanted to let you know that we're continuing our work on this amazing game and that we're thinking of you.

Where We Are At

All components and rules have been finalized. We are now at the stage of translations and samples. We are about to submit our files to the manufacturer. This means we'll get a sample in about a month. Once we receive it, we'll take some photos and send them to you in an update. We'll also take a look to see if there are any changes that need to be made to any of the components. They will be made at that time. Then we'll begin manufacturing immediately.

Timing

Our timing is still perfect right now. If we go to print in about six to eight weeks, it will be around the 5th of July when the games are ready. From there it will take about two weeks to get the games moved to the Shenzhen port for freight to the different regions of the world. That means that the games will hopefully leave the port on or around July 19th.

In terms of having the games manufactured in time for the December date we've promised you, we are 100% moving at a good pace.  However, we've been hearing about many shipping nightmares recently. From issues with locating shipping containers, to backups at Chinese ports, to incredible wait times at the Canada/US/EU/UK port, we have no idea how long freight is going to take at this point. On account of this, we've already begun talking to our freight and fulfilment partners about how we can expedite the shipping process. Our fingers are crossed that we are going to be able to get your games to you on time.

You can see it isn't just an issue of shipping from Asia, but the crisis includes freight moving throughout the world.

Amazing News For Italian Backers and Board Game Comforts

Hello Creatures,

We are certainly hunkered down here for the winter! It's been a balmy -8 degrees Celsius for the last couple of weeks. Other than taking brief walks for fresh air, we have remained inside, just like our furry woodland creature friends from Creature Comforts. Some great news today!

For Italian Backers

We have signed a contract with the Italian company Little Rocket Games. This gives us the opportunity to make your games in Italian. So, that is what we are going to do. If you are a backer that prefers your Kickstarter game to come in Italian, you can have it that way.  But first, please fill in THIS form, so that we know you want your game in Italian.  I must urge you to do this immediately so that you can secure your Italian language game.  Please note that if this form is not filled out, it is likely that you will not be able to receive your game in Italian.

We are incredibly happy about the way these illustrations turned out. Shawna JC Tenney did a fantastic job with this whole project. But she really knocked this one out of the park!

BGG 20 Most Anticipated Games For 2021

We did it!! We won the Family Games Category. While it is not official yet, you can see below, that we blew our competitors out of the water.

Production Timeline

We have already begun putting the final touches on the game and the rules. By the time our manufacturer gets back from their Lunar New Year celebrations at the end of February, we'll have submitted our files for the sample. At that point, translations will have begun and we'll be well on our way to getting this game to you by the end of the year.

BGG Most Anticipated and Charging Credit Cards

BGG Most Anticipated of 2021

You have all been doing such an amazing job voting for Creature Comforts in the BGG Most Anticipated Games of 2021!! Overall, we're in 7th place with 908 votes. Considering there are almost 9000 of you, I know we can make it happen!! But we need your help to do it. Please vote here! Voting closes on February 6th. We are, however, very happy to be in 3rd place for Dice Games and 1st place in Family Games. This is already such an honour. 

How to Get a Free BGG Profile

If you do not have a free BGG profile, you can sign up here. It's a great place to learn about games and what is going on in the game scene. I have really enjoyed my time on BGG. 

Charging Credit Cards

This is a reminder that we will be charging your credit cards this Tuesday, February 2nd at 8pm EST for your add-ons and shipping of Creature Comforts. If you need to arrange this with your bank, please do. It will avoid needless problems in the future.

If You Think You Didn't Get Your Survey

Sometimes you missed your email, and sometimes your Kickstarter email and BackerKit email are not consistent. Whatever the reason, there are often many of you that cannot find your BackerKit email. Your first instruction is to try to find your survey here: https://www.backerkit.com/are_you_a_backer. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page where it says "Find Your Backer Survey", you can enter "Creature Comforts" into the field. The BackerKit search tool will show up. Please enter your Kickstarter or BackerKit email address, or your Kickstarter name. That should be enough to find the survey for you. If your survey does not show up, please DM us and we'll take care of you.

Voting has finally opened for BGG's 20 Most Anticipated Games of 2021. Creature Comforts has made it into the following categories:

The previous thumb you have given the game was only a nomination. You can see the results here.  When you vote this time, it's actually the real thing! Creature Comforts is number 3 overall right now. So, unless you, our amazing backers can help to make something really amazing happen, we are likely to stay that way. It has been a very long time since the top spot was held by a family game. We are in the top spot for the Dice and Family categories, and so proud of it. Let's do this! Vote now!

BackerKit Pledge Manager, BGG's 20 Most Anticipated, and TantrumCon

Hello Creatures,

We are so excited to say that over 80% of you have completed your BackerKit pledge manager survey at this point. This is wonderful news. If you believe that you have not received your BackerKit email, please check all of your email folders. If it is still not there (totally plausible), please DM us and we'll send you a link to your survey. A reminder that since we sent the surveys out to you 1 day late, we'll be closing them tomorrow, Wednesday, January 20th, at 8pm EST. You will still have a lot of time to change your address, so if you think you're going to be moving over the next 8 months, please don't worry. We'll let you know when addresses are going to be locked.

Retailers

You will not be receiving the BackerKit email. I have messaged and emailed each of you at this point. Most of you have responded. Thank you! Please check your direct messages as well as your email. You will have received the email from kidstablebg at gmail dot com. There is very important information in these messages, so make sure to check it out. If you have responded to me already, there is no need to contact me again at the moment.

Add-On Dice and Wooden Bits

We've been getting many questions about the add-on dice and bits. If you have backed for the Kickstarter version of the game, we assure you that you don't need to add-on the bits and dice. If you are the kind of person that likes to have extras for any reason, feel free to add them on. At the moment, the dice are being added on more than the bits. They are pretty awesome, aren't they?

Dice Tower's Kickstarter Campaign

We are proud to support the Dice Tower with a new Improvement. You can purchase them in a pack of promos through their Kickstarter campaign, which includes promos from other games such as The Artemis Project, Chiseled, and Jurassic Parts. We have donated a promo card to help the Dice Tower raise money. But this also helps us to get more eyes on Creature Comforts. Over the last 6 years Tom and company (the Dice Tower Network) have been incredibly generous to us. We want to reciprocate the care they have shown to us. Some of you have asked if we can sell the cards in the pledge manager. I'm afraid that we cannot do that at this time. However, just like we did with the Fossilis Dice Tower promo cards, they will eventually be offered in our web store (see the promo here).

BGG's 20 Most Anticipated Voting is (not yet) Open

This past Sunday voting was supposed to begin for BGG's 20 Most Anticipated Games of 2020. I'm trying to figure out why voting has not opened yet. We hope that everyone involved is okay. We're excited to announce that Creature Comforts has made it into several categories. The previous thumb you have given the game was a nomination. You can see the results here. But when voting finally does open up, we'll email you again to let you know. We are number 2 overall right now. And I suspect that we'll stay that way, unless you, our amazing backers can help to make something really amazing happen. It has been a very long time since the top spot was held by a family game.
